Expect the Best

[SARN Memo for July 22, 2009]

Many self advocates who are more than 50 years old went to school before the IDEA laws. They did not get special education services in school. They were never taught reading, writing, and math. They were cheated by low expectations.

But many of these same people have given a lot to our movement. We find them in leadership roles across the country.

Let’s remember to expect the best from each other. It’s a great way of saying, “You count.”
