Dear ACT:
Let me introduce myself to you. My name is Roberta Gallant. I am 57 years and encounter a learning disability. I belong to the Capitol City Self-Advocacy Group and People First of New Hampshire. I am a consumer of Community Bridges, the area agency in Bow, New Hampshire. I live in Concord, New Hampshire.
New Hampshire had and still going through severe state budget cuts in community-based services and supports because it has almost no more money available. New Hampshire is a general-sales-tax free state but relies heavily on property taxes to get the services and supports people with disabilities need. New Hampshire should now have a general sales tax policy for a change.
Many times, I testified before the New Hampshire legislature to vote on or against house and senate bills relating to the needs of citizens with developmental disabilities. I also wrote the newspapers’ editors about problems those with disabilities faced.
Respectfully,
Roberta Gallant
